A Legacy of Excellence: Brandie Inez Sutton Returns to the Mendelssohn Glee Club

Since its founding in 1866, the Mendelssohn Glee Club has served as a sanctuary for vocal excellence and a platform for some of the world’s most significant artists. The Club has a storied history of presenting legendary soloists—from the trailblazing Marian Anderson to Metropolitan Opera icons like Licia Albanese, Aprilo Milo and Helen Traubel.

As we look toward our upcoming concert on May 12th, we are thrilled to welcome back a soprano who is currently carving her own "distinctive and compelling path on the global stage": Brandie Inez Sutton.

A Partnership Built on Talent

This performance marks Brandie’s third appearance with the Mendelssohn Glee Club. We take immense pride in having supported Brandie early in her journey, recognizing the "sumptuous" richness and "ravishing" coloring that Opera News and The New York Times now celebrate. Her continued rise to international acclaim is a testament to the Club’s long-standing tradition of fostering up-and-coming talent and providing a launchpad for world-class success.

From the Met to the World Stage

Brandie’s career has seen her become a fixture at the Metropolitan Opera, where she has enchanted audiences as Clara in Porgy and Bess, the Fairy Godmother in Massenet’s Cendrillon, and the First Niece in Peter Grimes.

Beyond New York, her artistry has taken her to the world's most prestigious international houses, including:

  • Semperoper Dresden

  • Hamburg State Opera

  • Theater an der Wien

  • Oper Frankfurt

On the national stage, she is a frequent guest at Seattle Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, and Opera Theatre of St. Louis. Whether performing the classical purity of Pamina in The Magic Flute or collaborating with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Brandie’s artistry knows no bounds.
